My third year coming to the hostel. It makes me feel like I belong on the island. I love their commitment to community, sustainability, and good times. Always meeting cool people and enjoying the kitchen, the volleyball court, and the firepit. The kitchen is fantastic, always well stocked on coffee and tea and there's usually some food shared. I feel at home there!

Centrally located by car, bus and bicycle. Super laid back and easy going staff, Thank you all! meticulously attentive to guests every need and cleanliness, which is important when sharing sleeping and kitchen quarters with others. Every night we came back to bonfire and a hot outdoor shower under the trees. Met some interesting fellow travelers, including a large group of folks from Iran. I love it here. It is a hostel, so not luxurious by any means, but peaceful, welcoming and safe.

HI Martha's Vineyard is a lovely place for if you plan on traveling either alone or with others. There are both private rooms and dorms. It's clean, spacious, and gives you a nice rural feel. The staff were awesome and are very accommodating. If you have any questions or need any recommendations, they will deliver! The yard itself had an outdoor bike storage, swing, outdoor Shrek inspired shower, volleyball net, and a place for you to park. There is even a bus stop dedicated to the hostel. I also got the chance to meet new people which was nice. HI Martha's Vineyard made my first solo travel easy and pleasant. Highly recommended to any and everyone!

I stayed at Hi Martha’s Hostel for two days and had a wonderful experience. The place was clean, comfortable, and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Even though I didn’t have a car, the bus stop right in front of the hostel made getting around super easy, and it’s conveniently located not far from the airport. A special shoutout to Edward and Chris, who went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Their amazing customer service, kindness, and attention to detail truly stood out. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a friendly and well-run place to stay.

My three-day stay at HI USA Martha’s Vineyard has ended, but the memories will stay with me for a long time. This hostel is so much more than a place to sleep — it is a thoughtfully crafted environment where every detail seems intentionally designed to help guests feel welcomed, nourished, curious, and connected. From the moment I arrived and saw the welcoming stones in the garden and HI USA’s message, “You Belong Here,” I truly felt that I did. I was greeted with warm oatmeal, coffee, kind guidance about yoga classes, and smiles from staff and fellow travelers. Watching people gathered around chess boards, exchanging ideas and stories, immediately set the tone for what this place represents: community. What struck me most was the extraordinary thoughtfulness behind even the smallest details. Instead of simply posting rules, the hostel gently guides guests toward caring for the shared space. Clear labels show exactly where recycling belongs. A tray with sticky labels, markers, and elastics thoughtfully reminds guests to label food in the refrigerator. Small details become invitations to participate and care. The hostel nourishes not only practical needs, but also the spirit. Fresh parsley on the kitchen counter for anyone to enjoy, reminders about seasonal health concerns like ticks, tea assortments for guests, and inspiring maps where travelers can pin where they are from or favorite destinations — all spark curiosity and connection. I loved the creative welcome board recommending local treasures: the West Tisbury Farmers Market, seafood at Larsen’s Fish Market in Menemsha, burgers at Fat Ronnie’s in Oak Bluffs, and sunsets at Aquinnah Cliffs, paired with charming artwork and weather notes that somehow made the island feel instantly familiar. Even the décor tells a story. Tiny souvenirs from around the world, international touches, and beautifully repurposed objects — like a kitchen lid transformed into a display of stones that felt almost like a small rock

This place is amazing! The staff are super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful- you have a fire pit, bike racks, an outdoor shower, volleyball. Everyone staying at the hostel was super kind and I ended making friends to hang out with around town. I had a camera and a laptop that I left out and I never felt like anything was in danger of being taken. The kitchen is awesome to be to cook and prep meals- there are also three (or four?) fridges so there is plenty of space to put your stuff. I highly recommend it! Also, booking through the website instead of third party booking really helps out the hostel to ensure their doors are open for years to come! 💗 Thanks so much for having me!
